Hello,

Two questions:

a. Do you have a pacemaker and do you dive?

b. if it ( pacemaker ) is airfilled is it ok or not to dive with it?

thank you

Perhaps you should consult your cardiologist. The fact that you even have a permanent pacemaker suggests that you probably have a health history where diving is a contraindication. You really should have a heart-to-heart (pun intended) with your cardiologist and see if the rewards outweigh the risks. Remember that diving doesn’t only place you in harms way, it places your buddy there as well.

I will place a healthy yeah but here...

I agree with you that a pacemaker in and of itself is not a contradiction (afterall I am not going to argue with DAN recommendations and I am not an MD)

BUT the instructor has the right to refuse if he or she feels it is not safe. I know a lot of instructors that would not take a student with a pacemaker even if cleared by an MD.

:D Guys, I'm really, really not trying to be cranky. This IS an interesting thread, but it really does belong in the medical, as opposed to decompression, forum.
