I'm looking for a 'good' P valve for my dry suit. I have seen several. Stainless ones with external knuckle like screws, Plastic protrusions, ss silver dollar, etc. what is the best? I have a CE 200 and hope to put a valve on soon. Thanx:implode: :3balloons

The best is the one that works...
Mine is the original all manual hollow screw type. Never had a failure. One of my buddies has one of those new all automatic fancy ones with some sort of equalizer too to keep the hose from possible collapse - so far that one works too.

Joe...
I just put a halcyon balance P-valve in my CF200....
Already have one in my Andy's trilam....
Shane has one in his CF200....
Another buddy just put one in his Moby's....

I like the idea of the balanced with the check valve...
I leave the bolt out but carry it in my pocket as a back up...
Attached to a boltsnap and clipped off...

Shane leaves his bolt in...
Saturday he forgot to unscrew it...
Not a good thing :eek:ut:

We buy the caths from a med distributor online for $1.13 each in lots of 100.

I prefer the ones sold by OMS and Diverite.. Its the same valve.. all stainless construction very easy to remove and clean.. I had the one by extreme exposure but I didn't like the quality or the design (at least I didn't have to make another hole). If you don't want to spend the money for the OMS or diverite valves you can make a valve yourself that will be about the same as the one from extreme exposure.

There are plenty of instructions online for both balanced and unbalanced designs.
The design of the extreme exposure balanced version doesn't allow easy cleaning of the unit.. sure you can connect the hose and run water through it, but a design where the unit can be easily removed and taken apart to be properly disenfected is a plus.. the OMS/Diverite valve costs about $30 more than the balanced EE vlave..

I wouldn't want to bother making one for the $90 and I have a industrial strength workshop. Now if I were making twenty or so then that might be different.

Very easy to clean... we always have water bottles onboard or in the truck and after a dive I just squirt a little water into the tube before I completely take my suit off and blow the tube out.

You have to disassemble yours to clean it?! Shoot way too much trouble... and if yours needs disinfectant you should probably see a urologist and get that underlying condition treated ASAP.

I disenfect it as a precaution, I have to disenfect my breathing bags anyway so, I clean them and then use the left over to dip the valve in.. can't be too careful. taking it apart takes less than 1 minute, probably less than 30 seconds.. the unit unscrews into 3 parts, all by hand no tools.. I could do the water bottle thingy also but since it unscrews so easily its easy just to run it under some water and dip it in a cleaning solution.

You wait to do this??
What about that last few drops of urine left in the tube...
Do you just take your suit off and let that dribble back into your suit??
Maybe the OMS is clean as a whistle after a dive but always rinse my tube out before completely removing my suit.

Oops, I was in a hurry when I was typing the reply, my boss kept passing by and I didn't want to be seen on a msg board..

The line should have read

I could do the water bottle thingy by itself but since it unscrews so easily its easy just to run it under some water and dip it in a cleaning solution.

when it comes to my dive gear I'm a clean freak..
