I am looking to buy a deco setup for use with your typical 50%/100% deco bottles. I recently started converting all my regs to Hog setups as I will be taking the class to service all my own gear. Is all that makes a reg Oxygen clean is doing the typical cleaning and then using oxygen clean lube (Christo/tribolube) and oxygen clean compatible orings? Just want to know before I purchase my Deco setups. Thanks.

the cleaning is a bit more involved than normal to remove hydrocarbons, and you should use dedicated tools so you aren't mixing the silicone lube with the O2 lube.

I have separated my setups to have dedicated o2 and non-o2 tools since I choose not to O2 clean anything except the valves and first stages on my deco bottles. Personal preference, but I find it to be easier than o2 cleaning everything.

Thanks and I figured that as well. I should have been more obvious in my question but what I was after was can you basically make any regulator set-up oxygen clean by doing the oxygen cleaning and using oxygen clean compatible orings? If so, then I should be fine with purchasing and Hog setup for deco regs. My worry was not being able to oxygen service my Hog regs due to maybe availability of special orings for Hogs or something like that.

so that's a complex question. Hog should be o2 clean out of the box IIRC, and you can purchase viton kits for them, just have to specify when you order.
Now, technically only regulators that have been machined as o2 clean from the factory can be truly o2 clean and if they EVER come in contact with silicone lubrication, they can never become truly o2 clean again. This is why Poseidon sells two different first stages depending on O2 clean or not. The lube they use to lubricate the milling machines is different on the o2 regs. Now, this is to NASA specs and is only valid as long as it stays in an o2 clean environment, so take that with a grain of salt.

unofficially, you're going to be OK, there are other parts in the valve and diaphragm first stages that aren't really O2 compatible, but they're being used anyway, so just be careful when you do it and follow the factory training for O2 cleaning the parts, you'll be good enough.

I find it easier to O2 clean everything on the boat except my titanium regs. They are still O2 clean, but are never used with O2. That way, I can get rid of the second set of tools and all of the silicon.
