Mach V is a sweet wing, but what's with the flap that wraps around that corrugated hose? I don't see it as functional. Anyone took a pair of scissors to it?

Keep your shears in their sheath.

That velco flap thing us supposed to go around the hose and shoulder webbing to keep the inflator from flapping around in the "breeze."

FYI: It practice if you're wearing the BP/harness correctly it doesn't come anywhere near reaching the shoulder webbing.

Mine reaches just fine with the wing mounted in the lower position on the plate (Oxychec Ultra Lite).

It doesn't? Show us a picture. Maybe it depends on what BP you're using.

That's what I use the flap for, to secure the inflator hose to the shoulder webbing. In addition I run the LP hose inside it also, keeps everything nice and tidy.

Works that way on my DSS rig, too.

I think it is marketing. What is the point of it if your hose is the right length and it is held down with a bungie on the d ring.

I've never found the need to tether it to the webbing either. The only reason I haven't sliced it off is the same reason I haven't cut off the "roll control tabs"--potential resale value.

??? That sounds like a sweeping statement, but doesn't apply to me. Maybe I'm not wearing my rig "correctly".

To the OP : ditto ZKY, plus the slap somewhat protects the corrugated hose. But one can do without. No big deal whatever you do. Laziness suggests to leave it like it is.
