I am about to begin classes. Will finish in late November. BUT, I need to get OW certified. Prefer some warm water, perhaps FL. Dont know where to go etc. etc. Live in IL and diving here is not an option for me.
I would really like to have the open water done prior to 1/6 when we go to Mexico
Thanks!

South Fla has warm water in December, but also has the Gulf Stream, whose current can complicate the OW tasks. So consider the springs in the panhandle, where many of us did OW, like Morrison and Vortex. Almost weatherproof, no currents, always 68F, so pretty reliable for classes.

Pretty much out in the middle of nowhere, though, but Destin's not too far away and would have off-season rates then. Contact any of the shops in the area (Pensacola, Destin, Mobile, even New Orleans) to see what their schedule is.

Thanks for the info, will definately check that out. I was looking at the Ft.Lauderdale area

Oh come on now Haigh Quarry is open on the weekends.....Just kidding. Welcome to scubaboard and good luck.
