My buddy is a newer diver, i think around a dozen dives. He got certified a few years ago. He wants to get back into diving and he's going to do a skills update. I'm trying to find the Open Water curriculum in electronic format for PADI or SSI so he can read up on things that he has most likely forgotten. I dont have mine. thanks, nik

Doesn't he still have his OW manual?

The PADI OW manual is not available online. If he signs up for a private refresher class with an instructor who will adjust the class contents to his needs (as most will), he should be OK.

The only way online that I know of is the PADI eLearning, and he has access to the manual, knowledge reviews and quizzes online, and it is the open water class again. I have to parrot BoulderJohn, take a scubareview, there is a preassesment quiz, remedial teaching on what is weak knowledge wise, and pool time getting skillls demonstrated and doing them again.

None of the PADI materials are online because any time anyone so much as puts a page of it up on a web site, PADI sends them a takedown notice and threatens to sue the pants off them.

Sometimes you can find a used copy on Amazon or eBay. Otherwise, if you want any of the PADI manuals, you'll have to pay PADI...just the way they want it.

You can purchase the 'encyclopedia of recreational diving' in electronic format.

Also...a search of bitorrent etc can produce some downloadable (pirate) instructional dvds, manuals etc

The manual is available in multimedia format. I would buy that and then you always have it as a reference. You can probably find it on ebay cheap. just a thought!

I don't understand why this guy would need to get the OW manuals.
The procedure as we all know if you don't dive for a while is to take a scuba review and the scuba tune up book let is perfect for that as it assumes you took the course already which is exactly the case here.
Why go over again the whole set of videos and 350 pages when there is a much more slim version.
For what concerns downloading pirated material that is terrible. In case get him to buy second hand from ebay which at least is legal
