A Developer (Dart?) wants to build overwater bungalows on Little Cayman but the Department of the Environment is urging the government not to grant approval because of potential damage to the Marine Reserve:

This would really change LC if Allowed IMHO. Not a slippery slope that I would want to see them go down. Classic fight between strong development vs environmental concerns. I did read that revenue from permit fees was at an all time high as the construction boom continues. So much so that the government is in better shape than in pre Covid times. While the new government is supposed to be more environmentally positive than the last government, the developers still have a very big influence. It would be nice to see them move away from the cruise industry toward more overnight type of tourism.

Good luck fighting (Dart) in Cayman. Swiss banks are rubbing their hands in anticipation of future deposits.

I posted this in July- Proposed Little Cayman development
At the time it was referred to as a resort type of thing, but the original link to the proposal doesn't work now. If this is supposed to be housing now maybe that's an attempt to make it more palatable. (or to sell to locals in case no tourists can ever get there!)

That link is dead now.

Yes I said it didn't work. So I am wondering if they have changed the proposal from the original, or at least the audience.

Here's information about the proposal from July, 2021:

I thought the DoE put an end to that proposal.
They are protesting and advising against it, but the final decision hasn't been made yet:
