Last August, during the annual Wounded Warriors week on Bonaire, Oceanic Worldwide officials were approached by Ken McNaughton, a corporate executive with the Omnicom Media Group. At that time, Ominicom committed to purchase life support equipment for the nine dis-abled US servicemen scuba diving on the island. This year, Oceanic Worldwide is pleased to announce Ominicom has once again contributed to this event, and even expanded its commitment to the Wounded Warriors.
According to Oceanic Worldwide President Dan Emke, Ominicom Media Group will be sponsoring all of the life-support equipment to be given to the 12 participants in this year’s Wounded Warrior event on Bonaire. “This was a very generous thing to do – both last year and this year. It’s great when companies outside of the dive industry come alongside us for this important and gratifying event.”
Oceanic Worldwide officials will be joining the Be A Diver.com staff and representatives from Tourism Corporation Bonaire to host 12 US servicemen who have been wounded in the line of duty August 16-24.
In talking about the donation, McNaughton said, “Meeting these ‘Warriors’ was very special and providing support was an easy thing to do.  We cannot do enough for all of our veterans and being able to meet these special individuals is something I will not forget.  They are clearly an inspiration for me.”
The Warriors receive mask, fin and snorkel sets from Oceanic’s patriotic USA line donated by the company. Emke said that each participant would also receive complimentary Computers/Regulators/Buoyancy Compensators on behalf of the Omnicom Media Group.
“This is the first time that someone from ‘outside’ the dive industry has stepped forward to make such a significant contribution. We appreciate what Ken has done and thank him and Omnicom Media Group for their support,” Emke adds.
Omnicom Media Group (OMG) is the media services division of Omnicom Group Inc. (ticker : OMC), the leading global advertising, marketing and corporate communications company. Omnicom Media Group includes the full service media networks OMD and PHD as well as a number of specialty media communications companies.
Oceanic Worldwide continues to lead the dive industry in its efforts to support wounded and physically-challenged US servicemen. The company’s commitment includes proceeds from its USA Product Line and sponsorship of many local events for veterans throughout the United States and abroad.
