Tomorrow, the lovely eckybay and I are heading up to Portage Quarry to take the first part of our AOW class. Should be a good time--the instructor's cool, it's a small class, and we're doing our night, SAR, and navigation dives. The second half of the class is later this month at some point.

Maybe we'll see some of our fellow SB'ers up there?

Much love to everybody...

How do you get to Portage Quarry from Col's and what hours is it open?

Not sure about the hours...check www.portagequarry.com for hours and rates and all that.

From Columbus...your best bet is probably 23 N to 15 W to 75 N...get off at the Route 6 exit, turn left on 6, and get off at the 25 exit. Turn left on 25, and it'll take you right to it.

...and yesterday, we completed our AOW course! Did three dives that went really well (deep, wreck, and photo). The vis was crap at White Star, unfortunately, but ecky and I had a lot of fun diving.

It was good for me to expand my boundaries a bit underwater, especially in regard to colder and deeper water...I'd definitely let myself get complacent in that regard. Mr. Stover, our instructor, did an awesome job with us, and definitely helped allay my anxiety about going deeper.

A good time was had by all. :)
