Hi All,

Freshly certified (3 weeks ago) Open Water diver here saying hello. I've logged a mighty 7 dives, and itching to get out more.

I live just south of Ottawa, work in the city, and I'm hoping to meet some folks who'd be ok with a rookie buddy tagging along on dives suitable for a newbie.

I'm 33, have 2 young kiddos, and pretty busy with work, but shooting for getting out once a week, looking for the buddies to do it with.

Anyway, enjoying this site, and thought I'd say hello.

Safe diving,
Matt.

IF you are willing to drive to Kingston www.northerntechdiver.com
There is an active dive community based out of the store. E mail Tom Rutledge. He is a good man for co-ordinating divers and dives.
Good Luck

I think you'll find that there are a few dive clubs that are very active in Ottawa.

Failing that a number of us in Brockville dive most weekends and are always willing to have new divers join our crew. Water temp on yesterday's dive here was 63F almost time to ditch my hooded vest....woo hoo....

Also, on Saturday July 26th we are hosting and OFWF gathering here in Brockville and you are welcome to join. We will be doing some shore based wreck diving and a few shore dives then dinner and drinks at Buds on the Bay.

Keep in touch!

Cheers, Taz!

Welcome to the neighbourhood!

As Taz mentioned there a number of dive clubs (mostly associated with the shops eg Burtons, Sharky's, KDS and Dolphinos) here in Ottawa and they regularly have organized diving activities.

As I'm living and working in Ottawa, my buddies and I regularly head south to the river (and beyond) for diving. If you're interested in joining us, drop a PM. We go both after work during the week and weekends.

Good advertizing Taz about the BBQ. Just to let you know, I did order a few extra OFWF t-shirts in white, so if you are interested in one -- add that into the PM too.

Wow, and I thought I'd be waiting 6 months for offer to go for a splash with someone who finally had pity on me!

Thanks for all the replies, hoping to take advantage of all of them!

Matt.

There is always time for new divers. The best way to learn and improve is to dive with more experienced divers. NTD goes along way to support the mentorship of divers from all levels of training.
Take care and good luck

Welcome abord! I'm new too so if your want a dive buddie, I looking for as many as I can find. I can't imaging you'll have much trouble. I found at least 2 within the first day of posting here :-)

Cheers

Hi Matt, just got back from the Conny, did a night dive. the water was 64, and was absolutely beautiful in the 7mil with hood. I think I'll ditch the hood as well.

If you'd like to join us tomorrow (sat) for a night dive (prescott docks or rothesay) or Sunday morning at Lock 21, you are more than welcome to come along.

Hey Art, thanks for the invite.

Unfortunately, this weekend is a write-off, as is next (HOPE Volleyball Saturday & the ensuing recovery day on Sunday), but after that, Sundays would be the perfect diving day for me, maybe down the road a couple of weeks?

Matt.
