Oshima Island - June 27/28/29

The first escape to our dive island paradise for 2008!

Oshima is always a favorite of our divers.

This trip starts with an overnight ferry from Yokohama. Logistics here. We'll be able to do 2 to 4 dives on Saturday, including a night dive. On Sunday, we'll get in 2 dives (possibly 3 for those who want to dive at sunrise) and leave the island at 4 pm, arriving in Atami just after 5 pm.

Fee of JPY 45,000 includes round trip ferry, one night stay on island including all meals except breakfast the first morning, two dives per day (JPY 1,500 per extra dive), tanks and weights. Bring your dive light for the night dive if you have one, or you can rent one from the shop. Pictures from a previous trip here.

Oshima went off without any major hitches.
The conditions were good. Vis was 5 to 15 meters depending on the site. Surface was calm, though we did have some ponding rain on Sunday. We dove all 4 of the major sites on the island.

Everyone enjoyed good dives with lots of sealife; squid, octopus, sharks, rays, large schools of fish and lots of nudibranchs.
