OS Systems and USIA Drysuits

On the surface (pun intended) it seems highly unusual to have two drysuit manufacturers so geographically close to each other in rural Oregon. Yet we have OS Systems (Scappoose, OR) and USIA (St. Helens, OR) only 8 miles apart.

Is there a shared history?
