looking for some advice/guidance

i used to be an avid u/w pic guy but havent dove in several years but looks like i will start getting some nitrox flowing through my lungs. i need to get an new rig.

my wife has a T2i and i have two ys-90s from myold rig. can i get into a new rig for under 2k using my strobes hard wired to a housing, i want TTL and manuel control of the strobes from the housing if possible.

my conern with dslr is having to have different lens for macro and WA, the different ports for these lens and then being stuck with marco or WA for the entire dive since you cant change lens underwater. i had 5050 for my last rig had a wet WA so i could take bothWA and marco in the same dive.

should i use the same 2k a get a g12 or s100? would still prefer to use my strobes hard wired for TTL'. i still have my inon uwl-100 wa lens which i would prefer to use again if i can.

For your T2i and your budget you are pretty much limited to Ikelite. You could get by with one port and lens like the 18-55mm. But reality is you want great results you are going to end up with 2-3 lenses and 2 ports. You will not be able to electronically fire your YS-90s* you will have to switch to firing them optically or switch to Ike strobes. So.....you could have a very good set-up but will need to expand it and for the short term shoot in manual. Yes with this class to get the best results you need to commit to a lens and thus a range of subjects macro vs. wide. Reality is you end up around +4k for a decent DSLR system

Lots of options for compacts. Several cameras are coming out with new models and the older versions are on sale, Lumix LX5, Oly XZ1, others in the E-PL/M line of Oly, and as you mentioned the very good S100. A few packages to give you an idea are listed below. You could use your YS-90s to save some money but again they will have to be optically fired. The nice thing is it would leave you cash to buy Diopters for shooting macro and Wide Angle lenses for large subjects.

Optical Ocean Nauticam LX5 Package - Nauticam Packages - System Packages - Optical Ocean Sales Underwater Photo - 800-359-1295!
Olympus XZ-1 Camera + PT-050 Complete System - Camera/Housing & Lighting Packages - Olympus Point & Shoot Housings & Cameras - Optical Ocean Sales Underwater Photo - 800-359-1295!

Many options just have to decide how you like to shoot, what you want to do long term.
