New to underwater photography and this is probably a stupid question, but the optical connector on the actual strobe. That is not a water sealed part so should be cleaned with fresh water with the optical cable off correct? I am using an Inon Z240 like this:


 
Hmm. I've had the optical line cap off of my D2000 once in the past 3 years I've owned it. Seems to be fine. Rinse as usual, and don't sweat it. :)

YMMV...
