Hi guys!

iŽ´m a newby in this u/w photo world and got a problem that is driving me nuts... I got a fuji e900 in an ikelite housing and iŽ´m trying to sync a YS90 DX strobe with optic fibre. When the fibre itŽ´s close enough to the cam inner-flash, the YS90 works fine (both in the pre and on options), but thereŽ´s no way i can make it with the cam inside the housing...

I guess iŽ´ve tried everything i can imagine and iŽ´ve read in different forums (black-tape the housing and so) but itŽ´s still not working....

Any suggestion?

Thanks a lot in advance ;)

Hi there...

As a matter of fact, I use the exact same setup, a Fuji E900 with an Ikelite housing, however a different strobe, but I used to and still do, from time to time still experience the exact same problem as you.

And it drove me crazy for quite some time...here's what how I've resolved it...it has to do with two things, and it can be either one or both.

1. Make sure that you have fresh batteries in your strobe, if they're rechargable and are at the end of their charge, they won't have enough juice to power the strobe for the optic cable on the outside of the housing to pick up the signal.

2. And this one is the one that I've found to be the most troublesome, make sure you clean, with soap and sponge, as in the kitchen sink, make sure you clean the light emitting sensor on the strobe, the slave light that is...remove the connector of the fiber optic cable from the strobe and clean the strobe slave, and then, also look inside the connector and make sure the fiber optic cable is straight inside the connector and not bent sideways.

Anyhow...after many a night before a dive day, I've banged my head against the wall trying to resolve the same issue you're having, and the above steps have proven positive for me, hope they're for you as well.
