If MOF/NMOF and PUB are ‘opt in’ forums, shouldn’t all non-scuba forums, including LGBQ, be opt in only?

They don't seem to produce the number of threads to upset peeps. However, the LGBTQ forum is about diving.
We have just under 500 forums. It would be unmanageable to configure or for members to sort through such a large list in their Preferences. It took a lot of work for @Miyaru to add the three opt-out options we have.
I recently made a suggestion to xenForo for a native-feature in a new update for a checkbox in each forum. It would remove posts in member-selected forums from appearing in that member's New Post lists but still be seen in their view of the Forum List:
