Hi, I acquired a set of Aqua Lung Titan QC regulators. First thing I notice is the ratchet lock and hand disassembly of the regulators from their hoses. Is this the extent of this feature? The parts are not brass, just some kind of plastic.

Second, although there is a + and - diagram on the cover, there appears to be no adjustment. Is this right?

The set is clean and I'll check out its functionality soon.

Thanks!

Worsed Aqualung 2nds ever!

It's not about the stupid QC fitting on the 2nd.

If you can sell it, just get rid of it, you will not have fun with it.

It's a lousy design, the components are substandard, very bad mix of plastic and metal parts, and if there is the slightest dirt in the mechanism, it doesn't keep the adjustment.

Cheap trash for me, a huge disapointment after the Calypso Model before had been the best unbalanced Aqualung 2nd ever for me......

Sorry for beeing so negative about this model, but customers did the mistake to purchase these regs as fleet regs, and those 2nds have cost me my last nerves and spare parts.

The 1st is also clearly worse than the Titan 1st, seems they changed the brass and chrome components, but one can use it if you take good care of it.

Fortunately AL stopped selling this model just after 3-4 years I think to remember.....

Thanks, runsongas, for pointing out the venturi. I see a red deflector in there but it won't move. After partially disassembling the regulators I see why they don't adjust. All cleaned up now and smoothly working.

Axxel57, I'll give them a try nonetheless. And I have two sets, so maybe double trouble! The first stages look like regular Titans. One has a single HP port, the other has two. Both don't have the water closure valves.

Scoping out the design, looks like the hose can be swapped to either side of regulators.

What is difference between the newer Titan first stage and newer Titan LX first stage? (Not the old Titan) Some have one or two HP ports. Some have auto-close valve, some don't. The branding on the regulator doesn't seem to make a difference about these two features.

the differentiation between the titan and titan LX was from the 2nd stage

titan LX is balanced whereas titan/titan classic is not

1st stage having ACD or 2 hp ports is due to whether it is older revision from before 2013 or not

Would looking at the seat determine if the regulator is balanced or unbalanced? The balanced reg would have a seat with a hole in it?

its easier than that, the unbalanced reg doesn't have the balance tube and poppet inside, you will just see the lever after you remove the 2nd stage diaphragm

Also if the hose went bad, you had to buy a proprietary replacement hose. They came out with an adapter for standard hoses but it cost like $50 (not including the hose)! Insane.
