In Venice, Florida West Scuba School (941) 486-1400.
I haven't done any training with them, but have dealt with the shop a lot. Their staff is very friendly and helpful.
If you want to come a bit south (20 miles) to Port Charlotte, I'd recommend Fantasea Scuba (941) 627-3888. They're a top notch dive shop, and Jim is one of the most knowledgable divers I know.
