Talk to Ben Haddock at Metro Dive in Ringwood (eastern Melbourne). I recently completed my open water with him and I'm very pleased. He also runs a dive club and we dive on most Wednesday evenings. I can't recommend them enough.
They've also been very helpful and very compeditive with dive gear.
