I just bought a Sony HDR-SR12 camcoder and ordered a Seatool housing with wide angle lense and a Dokany 9 plus video light. I wanted a more compact set up than my previous Iklite/TRV-80.

I have never shoot any footage with 2 video lights. I am wondering if it is worth it to invest on additional video light to shoot macro or mid/close range object such as a moray eel/Manta ray.

Gives you more light and removes the shadow when only using one.

So it depends on your conditions that you normally shoot in. The darker you are, the more help the 2nd light gives you.

and not need it than need it and not have it. Two will balance better both in light and weight distirbution, but don't ask me I always opt for more.

Two lights afford many more lighting options then a single source. I often have one light going down from the top and another light aiming from underneath the camera, or one aiming to the right and down and one to the left and down. Both of those scenarios allow for more completely coverage of your subject. You also have the ability to removeone light completely and hold it with one hand or lay it behind the subject to provide backlighting.
