I have only seven days before I have to be at a conference in Singapore in late June, during which time I want:1 to go diving a few timew (has to be easy; only 8 dives under my belt) and 2) see some cultural/local stuff. I've spent the last week prowling the Internet in general, and ScubaBoard in particular, and I'm worn out. Too much information! I've learned a lot, but STILL don't know what to. Phuket, etc. seem to be out of bounds due to weather; Bali is one option, although I've been there several times (before my OW); I thought maybe Sipadan or similar place in Malaysia... Someone on the diving forum asked about Vietnam but no one has answed yet. Hanoi would be interesting, but then what? I'm 53, by the way, travelling alone, adventurous but not really athletic (don't want to climb any mountains or trek big time). Thanks for any "Do this and then that, and don't make a big fuss out of it" advice.

melinda robins,
welcome to this board.
do some research on the maldives.
very nice people and the diving can be as easy as you make it.
alot of different coral and fish than you will see in boston.

i went to the maldives on a solo trip in '03 and so far has been my greatest "adventure"
regards,
