Just wondering from you folks out there with OMS experience.....I dive a single 120. I was wondering if an OMS 60 single bladder wing would work ok with the 120. I am ASSUMING since the wing has cam strap slots, it is suitabe for single tanks. Am I mistaken?? Just trying to get an idea of the wings size, since I can't find one locally to take a look at. Thanks!!

I don't think a wing with 60lbs of lift for single tank exists. The OMS 60 must be a doubles wing (at least the OMS's that I have found are for doubles).

You don't want too much extra-lift over your real needs, because emptying the air bubble will be harder.

The OMS 60 lb wing is what I used with larger doubles (130's). It is relatively wide, and would 'taco' around a single tank (trap air which could be difficult to dump).

I saw one OMS 60 lb wing with 'bungees' on sides, which allowed the user to tighten the bands when used with a single tank.

My advice, get a single tank wing for single tank diving. Mine has 30 lb of lift and is more than adequate diving a steel tank and a drysuit. Get a doubles wing when you dive double tanks.

Just my two cents. Hope this helped...Cheers!

The 60# "wing size" is 60 pounds.

Happy to be a help..

...what capacity wing are you currently diving and why is that wing 'insufficient' for your needs ?

Thanks guys. Just what I was thinking. Needed confirmation. I am using a Rec Wing right now. Just had a line on an OMS wing for a pretty good price. Couldn't find much info on them as far as size/use. But why would there be cam strap slots on a wing made for doubles?? Just for the option of diving a single tank if needed in a pinch? Thanks again.

There's no such thing as "a pretty good price" on the wrong gear.

:shocked2:

I have seen once a diver having doubles mouted with cam straps on a backplate. Not sure why, or if it is a good or bad idea (didn't asked him). It looked strange though.

From the descriptions on websites for the 60lb wing, the camband slots are designed for single tank.... but really 60lb is overkill for a single tank. Wings aren't that expensive and I think it is better to have a single wing and a doubles wing. I have the 32lb OMS wing for single tank diving and the 45lb for twin 12s.
