Anyone is using OMS STA?

Recently, I got the OMS STA, but its set up is a little bit weird.

As you see on the picture below. A carriage bolt is welded on the STA..

Why?

Edit: I might not be clear enough. I know how to use a STA...

I have a Halcyon, Dive Rite, Fred T, Hammerhead, Oxycheq's STAs......

None of STA has a pre-welded carrigate bolt to the STA...

I can't understand why OMS makes it in that way.. What for?

IMHO, it is very annoying design to carry it out with the bag.

If they're 11" apart, it's so you can bolt it to the back plate.

i'll let you know when i get mine soon

I think it might make it a little easier to put all the pieces together.
It has to be stable to stack on the bladder, plate and harness/ IQ.
If those things were moving around it would be difficult to manage.
When using all OMS components - you really have align everything
and push down to get the wing nuts on. Just my theory.

Maybe a lower profile on the bolt head so that the STA can have a shallower curve and allow the tank to sit closer to the plate?

I have the oms STA and I was also confused as to why one would weld the bolts into place. The only thing I can think of is that it makes it much easier to attach to a back plate. I eventually managed to strip one of the bolts however and ended up just popping the weld and replacing the stock bolts with new stainless hardware.

I have one and I like it welded so I am not chasing bolts and stuff around. It may be easier to weld it in place than have a little square cut outs for carriage bolts.

I have 1 and have been considering knocking 1 of the studs loose so there is a bit more play assembling my kit. I use the STA with different backplates and wings and sometimes that extra wiggle room helps.
