it seems that the single tank adaptor for OMS backplate i find to be expensive. is there another type of adaptor that is cheaper for my steel b/p?

The Oxycheq mini adapter would probably work for you.

What wing are you using? Oxycheq makes a number of wings that do not require a STA, and AFIK a number of others do too.
