I'm a Fish!
Hello! I am looking to buy Olympus Stylus 740 digital camera and Olympus PT-034 underwater housing. I have tested the camera as a demo in numerous stores. I am not a professional photographer but I wanted to have my pictures to look crisp and clear just as same as those SBers who have those great pictures.

Is this camera great for macro, wide angle, video, and other basic types? I already have strobe ready. I am just looking to upgrade from Sealife DC310 camera.

If you have other camera suggestions, then you may post here - but explain why do you suggest other camera, please.

Thanks! :14:

I have an earlier version of the Stylus -- the 400. The main drawbacks are 1) doesn't have manual white balance, and 2) only has autofocus, and in the low light levels underwater it has trouble focussing.

My suggestion is to keep looking at other cameras unless the 740 has manual white balance and manual or preset focus options.

The other big variable is compatibility with strobes, but that seems to be a weak point for all of the point and shoot cameras. There is a high probability that your strobe isn't compatible with point and shoot cameras.

Canon, Sony, and Pentax also makes some nice, small cameras. Perhaps someone else can point you to one that has manual WB and more focussing options.

Thanks Charlie99. I have a digital strobe - why don't you think it will work?
