I am continuing to learn about my new camera (Olympus E-330). As Chris Menjou says, "shoot until your finger bleeds." Well, my finger isn't bleeding, but I did manage to take lots of pictures. Here are a few of the better ones from this w/e:

Gopher rockfish

Nice shots, Jim. Although, as they say, it is really impossible to judge much of anything from internet JPGs.

From my perspective, can you comment on:

1) live preview plus and minuses, mode used, any issues or hints

2) what lenses were used

3) exposures

4) autofocus issues or comments?

TNX for any details.

Rick, in answer to your question:

1. Live preview works just like it does on my c5050, great. No issues with low light, the 2.5 inch LCD is big and bright.

2. I only have the 14-54mm lens. The macro shots were done at the far end, 54mm (equivalent to 104mm on a 35mm film camera). The others were taken near the wide end. I'm using Ike's 6" dome port.

3. Exposures were all done in Aperture priority (f8 - f11), ~1/30 sec, ISO-200.

4. Autofocus (center spot) was quick and accurate. The camera had difficulty with the white Berthella seaslug (no contrast) so I had to focus next to the animal and then move back to the slug to take the shot.

5. I'm using Ike's TTL with dual Ike DS-125 strobes. I have found that I've needed to increase the strobe output in TTL to get bright images. I'm also learning how to judge the preview image on the camera as to correct exposure - so far, bright is better. If the preview looks dim, it's going to be too dark without digital manipulation.

Great Shots!

Good luck with the new camera....I am still trying to get used to my sp350!:D

I'm so looking forward to getting a housing for mine! I've already amassed a slew of lenses for topside use as this is my third 4/3rds camera(LOL).

Mathew,

What four-thirds lenses do you own?

Are you thinking about the Ikelite housing, the Olympus housing, other housing...?
