I currently have the Oly C5050 with a Inon D180 Strobe, I am thinking of purchasing a second camera the C7070 the question I have is will my Inon D180 strobe work OK with the 7070. as this will save me acquiring another strobe. Also will my wide angle lens 67mm screw onto the PT 027 housing.

thanks

I would assume the strobe will work fine, but make sure (I know, crappy answer)

My main reason for responding is to say, if you want a 7070, get NOW like right now.

They are discontinues, even if OLY does not acknowledge this, and you have maybe six months to get one, and a LOT less for an authorized dealer with warranty.

Good Luck,

The strobe works fines...I have the combi. Just make sure u put the strobe on No Preflash mode, when using slave strobe mode

Yes, as Tim says, the D-180 will be compatible with the C7070 / PT-027 but you may need a new optical cable set: Optical D Cable/Cap W9 Set (the PT-015 uses a W5 Set). I don't know if the W5 will work with the PT-027 - check with the dealer you ordered the D-180 from. Also be aware that, unlike the C5050, users have reported that the C7070's flash doesn't fire in Super Macro mode. This means you will not be able to trigger the D-180 in SM mode.

Yes the 67mm wide adapter will screw on to the PT-027 but (there's always a but :D) i. the general advice is that the weight of the wide adapter can cause stress on the fragile port pins of the housing which can result in them breaking off and/or causing a flood, and ii. you may get vignetting or see black around the corners as the C7070's native lens is wider than that of the C5050. This is what Inon has released to address both problems: http://www.inonamerica.com/news.php?news_id=33&newscat=0

Thanks Guys for your feedback.

If you are looking to get the 7070, go with the ike housing if you need to use the WAL. The port is significantly stronger than the PT-027, and should be able to withstand the weight of the WAL (though I haven't tried it with the WAL and DOME).
