Hi All,

Was wondering if anyone out there had experience with their Oly housing in cold water (40ish). Any problems?

Thanks,

45 Degrees And No Prob Pt-020 And C5060. WHERE U AT IN MICHIGAN, GRAND RAPIDS HERE. WELL GRANDVILLE TO BE SPECIFIC. NICE PICS FROM GILBOA. YOU USE A FLASH AT ALL DOWN THERE?? LOOKS LIKE THE WATER WAS PRETTY CLEAR FOR A CHANGE. I HAVE MY FIRST PICS UPLOADED FROM GILBOA USING "WHITE BALANCE" NO FLASH ON THE LINK BELOW

Thanks,

It got down to 47 on a couple of dives this year; is that low enough? No problems with my PT-015 or any of the three others used by my buddies.

Thanks for the feedback, that's what I was hoping to hear :)

I live just north of Milford.

All the Gilboa pics I posted were taken without the flash last Memorial day weekend.
I did take a few with the flash but nothing really interesting.

all I can say is...THANKS GOODNESS, NO! 40 degrees, Mark are you trying to kill me! lol

have a nice trip :D

My parents live in highland and my wife and i are over there quite a bit. Maybe we can get together and do a dive sometime.

Nice pics at gilboa. When we were there and i used my cam it was pretty mucked up already. I guess thats what i get for over sleeping.

You ever use the white balance on your cam for color pics?

Hi Lisa,

Well, I recently purchased a drysuit and as soon as those darn undergarments arrive I'll have to give the new gear a try before everything freezes over.

Fortunately my upcoming trip won't have water temps anywhere near 40 degrees.
Only 7 more days to sun, sand and salt water :)

Hi Ron,

I'm actually in Highland too, just off Milford road about 1/2 a mile south of M59.

I've never tried the manual white balance. So far I've just set my white balance to "cloudy" and left it there for all my underwater photos. But I hope to get much more familiar with all the settings in the pool this winter and be ready and waiting for the spring thaw.

Take Care,

I've had mine down to 32F a number of times on some ice dives without any issues. I think what you need to watch out for more is not necessarily the temperature itself, but the temperature gradient between your dive and surface interval. I did a dive in August in Lake Ontario. The bottom temperature was around 42F, and the cabin temp in the sun was around 85F. My camera sat in the cabin for over an hour. With my 2nd dive after the surface interval, the housing was cooled back down to 42F and resulted in condensation inside the housing (enough to see droplets run down the inside walls of the housing.
