I have an 8080 with the DS50 strobe and on my first vacation I realized my flash was out of sync even though I set it up with Ikelites recommended settings. Go to the following link and set up My Mode on your camera Using the Olympus 5050 settings. My pictures didn't get better but they are brighter

Can't get the strobe to sync with camera...any suggestions?

Thanks:06:
what are you using to trigger the strobe?? if you have an ike housing with a ttl capability you should be using a sync cord and set the camera to external strobe use..I use a 5050 and the settings should be similar..

Make sure that the synch plug is insterted ALL THE WAY into the hot shoe of your camera and make sure that it is pointed in the correct direction. I know this sounds pretty basic but that is the most common reason for the flash not being in synch with the Oly cameras.

very true ..there is a arrow and marker written"front" on the sync plug that goes on the hot shoe..easy enough to accidentally reverse it.

I was taking pictures and then suddenly they all came out black...the slave setting changed on me from one picture to the next...
