Does anyone have the comparison between the old PST HP100 3500psi tanks and the new Faber hot-dipped HP100 tanks?

I thought I found a thread once with some info but I can't find it again.

TIA

you aren't going to have an old thread since the fabers with galvanizing are brand new as of DEMA this past November. Apparently the Fabers have the same buoyancy as their painted siblings which is about a pound less negative than the PST's. The only real significant change is going to be the neck. The PST's obviously use a now very uncommon neck size that is quite difficult to find valves for.

The ideal tanks are going to be the PST E7-100's if you can find them since they have the 3/4" standard valve size, but they are exceptionally uncommon.

If in doubles, I would go with PST's every day of the week. If in sidemount, I would probably go with the Faber's due to the trim characteristics.

I probably found a thread comparing them with the painted ones then.

so if I don't need the weight, the new ones are better for me?

any major differences in how they float when empty?

faber's will float more butt up which makes them kind of annoying when in doubles depending on your wing, especially when in a drysuit. I haven't gotten the new ones in the water, but they say they are the same buoyancy wise so I can't imagine they're different trim wise.

For me it would be a cost thing. I'm cheap, especially with tanks, so I would just get/keep the PST's. Granted I just traded a set of PST HP100's for Faber 85's, but that was for sidemount. I still have my PST120's for backmount doubles and have no desire to use anything else for doubles but I am quite tall so they fit me. If I was shorter, I would use the PST100's and have on many occasions and they are awesome tanks for people of "normal" height
