I've just finished a hard season guiding in Burma and am dying to get back to Japan, my girlfriend and my life! But I know I will miss the diving immensely. In 4 years living in J-land, I only ever did one dive..at Miyakejima. It was nothing to write home about.
I see threads here that say Okinawa is awesome. My question; why...what do you see there? Is it worth regular trips from Tokyo, or am I better off flying elsewhere for the same money?
Any info/advice would be great! Thanks.

I only did my open water cert and the 5 dives required for the cert there but the diving was great. Warm water, nice variety of fish, and lots of neat coral to look at.

Okinawa is a great place to dive. There are so many different sites to go. The Keramas is great and soft corals are coming back to life. I lived in Oki for four years and dove all over.
Enjoy...

Okinawa is good for this part of the world. Kerama's, Kume Island, and of course Yonaguni are real good. Just to name a few. Maeda point on Okinawa is descent. I would say go to Seragaki beach, but unfortunately a resort has bought the island and is now closed. THAT was one of my favorite spots. Just to name a few.
