How about ading a section to the front of the thick (5 and 7mm) suits for cold water that acts like the hand warmer pocket on a hooded sweater? Just a place to get your hands out of the water flow and keep them warmer...

I agree 100% .. at least the more expensive models should have at least one bellows pocket, preferably two

The front pouch idea might be problematic getting your hands into, and out of, with a BC on
 
I have a list of a bunch of custom wetsuit makers (11) that will add pockets, etc. I wish that I could just buy it off the rack .. you would think that there would be sufficient demand for pockets that they might just put some on
