ok, i was planning on buying the rebel xt, which i found for a great price (although the housing is a ways away in terms of being able to afford it.) Then i found a 300D for sale with an aquatica housing with it for a really good (i mean really good) price. i know i'm looking at a drop from 8 megapixels to 6.3. is there anything else that would steer me away from this and stay on course for the rebel xt and wait for the housing?

get the 300D.
A housing for any DSLR will set u back around $1400 with port. The change in resolution from 6.3 to 8MP is irrelevant, and money saved can usefully be put towards a strobe setup!!..
If you decide to wait for the xt let me know where to get the 300D :)
Lighting is everything underwater..save money on camera & housing and get a strobe :)

Unless you are printing 5'x7' (Thats Feet) you dont need more than a 6-7 Mpxl camera I have some really great prints from a 6 Mpxl camera that were poster sized.
