Hi!

We are currently trying to sort out a reg/octo set up. We haven't made a final choice on theprimary 1st and 2nd stages yet but we do know they will be balanced/overbalanced.

Does anyone have any recommendations for chosing an octopus? Specifically we want one which won't freeflow at every opportunity...

Thanks!

Well first decide whether you have balanced or over balanced. This will make the difference in its performance. And I would think you want it to be reliable in the time you are going to use it.
Next, if you want something that won't always freeflow, get something that has a venturi lever on it. Some examples are Apeks AT20/40, Oceanic Gamma, and Aqualung LX.
Next it is usually easiest to match up brnad names unless you see something that you really like otherwise. this way if you ever have them serviced somewhere that doesn't servieone of the two you aren't running around.
Lastly, take your pick within that brand and see if you want something ambidextrous, low profile or high performance.

IF you narrow down the field a little, you will get a better response.
