Way to sensationalize natural enzymes…
Makes me wonder if throwing some papaya in with an octopus would tenderize it.

I would imagine so as the natural Papain enzyme will break down collagen and muscle fibers. Plenty of recipes suggest to do just what you proposed!

Papain, whether in a brand-name product like Adolphs or otherwise, is apparently powerful stuff. I discovered this from leftover green papaya salad (with beef strips) that became meat mush overnight. Anyway, octopus.
 
Do you know why people eat inedible garbage? Because they are hungry and there is nothing else to eat.
That's why it's called a "delicacy." Because when you're that hungry, anything at all seems like a delicacy.
