Hello fellow Scuba Fans,
Chris, Sally, JP and Christian would like to say "Hello" from St.Martin / St.Maarten.
Our VIP service is still working extremely well - with only 6 people aboard our beautiful boat - you really do get the best experience.
Check out our reviews: Octopus Diving - Grand Case - Reviews of Octopus Diving - TripAdvisor
We have had a very busy year and are looking forward to a busier year next year and thank all our previous customers for thier support, especially Madam J and Marc Au Marc.
Just a quick update from the Caribbean:
Our new dive boat arrives in September - 30 foot power catamaran with 2x225HP Mercury Outboards - photo's will be posted on the blog soon Octopus Diving.
This will replace our current boat Arvor (26ft Mako) and provide an even more comfortable diving platform.
The shop is now re-furbished The Dive Shop - Saint Martin and is now fully stocked with the latest gear from Suunto, Scubapro and Mares at US prices and of course we have our new super cool T-shirts.
We have just installed our brand new compressor, air banks and filling station - Our current configuartion is a Coltri Sub 9.6CFM with triple water seperators and final filtration via a Bauer P2 tower filter.
The old Bauer is enjoying a well deserved retirment after 20 years of perfect employment.
If you have never dived in St.Martin you are seriously in for a pleasant surprise.
Other reviewers are correct by saying the dives are shallow with a couple of deep wrecks and no walls - but it depends what you want out of your vacation.
St.Martin is very balanced - it has superb top side activities, great restaurants coupled with amazing reefs and wrecks.
The whole team at Octopus Diving have dived all over the world and have worked at some of the most amazing dive locations, including the Raja Ampat, Red Sea, Phillipines, Thailand etc... and we all love the diving in St.Martin due to its Marine Bio-diversity, low pollution and of course very little commercial fishing.
Just in front of our shop we have two of the most amazing reefs on the North of the Island. Creole Rock and Turtle Reef, both sites are 30 feet max - why go deep when you can stay at 30 feet for 205 minutes according to the Padi RDP...?
We have seen and regularly see the following wildlife over a period of 12 months:
Dolphins
Sharks
Eagle rays
Sting rays
Morays
Turtles - everyday - its rare that we DON'T see them!
Octopus
Lobster
Crabs
Shrimp
Shoals of large pelagics
Shoals of Various large snapper including large dog snapper.
Monster Barracuda
Flying Gurnards - fish with wings that don't swim - they walk?
Frog Fish
Scorpion fish
Toad Fish
Sailfin Pike blennys
Nudibranchs
Flounder
Jawfish
etc.........
The hard and soft corals are just in the most amazing condition, with little or no bleaching.
Why spend 20 minutes travelling to a deeper dive site only to spend less time underwater - sure it save us travelling time, but we would rather spend more time underwater than above it!!
PLEASE NOTE: We dive ALL over the Island including Tintamarre, Dutch Side and the channel between St.Martin and Anguilla where have have just found some new, awesome dive sites - if you dive multiple days we always try (weather/conditions permitting) to take you to new and different dive sites around the Island and also remember that there is no minimum amount of divers so if its just you we will still dive!!
Go and check out our website: Octopus Diving - Scuba Dive in Saint Martin
Also look at some of the latest reviews on Scubadviser - this site is new and its awesome:
