The offer was posted by divetrip.com.

I believe that the prices are in $US dollars and that the package includes airport transfers, taxes, and hotel service charges. That's true for their other CC packages so it is probably the same for this special offer.

So you would only have to pay airfare, dive shop tips, $95 for Nitrox if desired, and your bar bill (they offer premium liquor packages at CC too.) Also, travel insurance if you take it.

If you decide to do some exploring then you would have to pay for the rental car. You can usually find reasonably-priced air travel to Grand Cayman from many places in the US.

DiveTech remains the onsite dive op until December 1 when the new owners and Reef Divers move in. So the unlimited shore dive locations probably include both Cobalt Coast and Lighthouse Point.

There are lots of great restaurants to enjoy on Grand Cayman but they can be expensive, and your dollar is only worth $0.80; so if you are looking for a relatively inexpensive fall trip this might be a good option.

Cobalt Coast Resort - Grand Cayman

---------- Post added September 21st, 2015 at 06:38 AM ----------

I just noticed that it is advertised for Oct 3 - 31 2015 but the text says "fall 2014", so I think that is a typo, but you'd better confirm the dates if you are interested.

Interesting and good offer.

Has it been confirmed that the Tibbett's heirs have bought the resort also? Last I saw the only change was Reef Divers was taking over for Divetech.

The good news is that the US dollar is worth $0.80, not $.075. Every little bit helps.

Oddly enough, in most places in the Cayman Islands, bank deposits included, you get $.080 for paying in cash and $.082 if paying by check.

Anyone know why that is the case?

As far as I know, there hasn't been a press release about the Tibbett's family acquiring the property; maybe they are waiting for the deal to complete before making an announcement.

But several divers who recently visited LCBR have reported being told by divemasters and hotel staff that the Tibbett's family are buying the property. The story is that they sold some other property in the Caymans to finance this purchase.

Thanks for the currency conversion correction (good news!), I will amend my post above.

Doesn't matter who will be running resort or dive op at that time. Great deal at good location. If too rough to dive north, they usually bring the boats around west.
A rental car is a good idea. CC is out of the way and somewhat isolated. Also found a car useful to get to their west side shore op, Lighthouse, without being dependent on their transportation.
