Where does the term "octopuss" or "octo" come from? This is in reference to the redundant 2nd stage not the animal.

Anyone?
 
way back when - you only had 2 big hoses coming out of a flat can. then just 1 small hose that came from the first stage to the second. then 2 hoses (an SPG). then 3 (the BC inflater), then the safe second - about that time some witt remarked "there's so many hoses on this thing, that darn reg setup is starting to look like an octopus!"
