I just got a brand new Mares Axis octopus for my dad's old sherwood regulator.

Although I haven't actually dove on this octo yet, it's the exact same one I used for my OW cert. dives and it breaths easyer then the 20 year old Sherwood Blizzard.

What I did was just swaped the 2nd stages, so I have the Yellow Axis on the primary hose, and the Blizzard on the long yellow hose.

I guess my question is, is there any drawback of using my Axis are a primary 2nd stage? will it get people excited when i'm breathing from a yellow 2nd stage? Is it going to piss off the dive masters if my Alternate air source is just on a yellow hose, but is black itself?

Would you dive with me if i was using this set up?

Yes. As long as part of the buddy check/dive brief you explicitly held each up and said "This is my primary". "This is my octo".

When you have your regulators serviced, but sure to include a note saying which one is the primary, which is the secondary. That way the service tech knows to set the cracking pressure on the Axis low, and to detune the Sherwood Blizzard a bit (this assumes neither has a external cracking pressure adjustment)
