...yes, it's possible...but it will likely make servicing more complicated unless your local dive shop (or whoever services your regs) handles both brands....if you have a reg problem, the Aqualung dealer will blame the Dacor part...or the Dacor (Mares) dealer will blame the Aqualung part...so you end up with a bunch of finger pointing at each other and you're stuck in the middle...so be careful.

Short answer, Yes
Besides the repair issues mentioned by scubafanatic another question is how well do you wish the Viper to perform? I'll preface this by saying I'm not sure whether the Viper is balanced or not. Pneumatically balanced in AquaLung terms.

The Legends 'over balanced' feature increases the intermediate pressure as the reg goes deeper, while some feel you must use a balanced octopus with the Legend, or the increased pressure may cause the non-balanced 2nd to leak eventually at depth, how deep, I don't know for certain, where a balanced 2nd would automatically compensate.
All Legend 2nds are balanced.
Some will say it just doesn't matter, and use non-balanced 2nds with the overbalanced firsts, and don't seem to have problems. I believe you would have a slight leaking rather than full free flow.

For several years I dove with an Aqualung ABS octo connected to a Legend first stage. The ABS octo is not balanced. Under real-world diving conditions, it didn't breathe as well as my Legend second stage...but it did fulfill the requirement of a functional alternative air source. The reg tech simply de-tuned the octo so that there were no free-flow issues at the surface and at depth. No big deal. I'm not familiar with the Viper octo, but I suspect that it can be de-tuned much like my ABS octo was. Good luck.

Many thanks for answers. I'm planning to buy a second Legend reg in the future, so my idea was to use cheap used Viper octo before I buy it. After that I'll use two regulators or 2nd stage as octo. But probably better idea is to save money faster :).
