Being a diver in Mexico has many opportunities in the world to dive. From the marvelous Cenotes in the Mayan Riviera, to amazing pinnacles in the Pacific, home to Mantas, Hammerheads and more.
But this time I came across something VERY different.
A local photographer by the name of Rodrigo Del Rio Lozano from Playa del Carmen, has created in Mahahual, Quintana Roo (south of Cancun, around 4 hour drive) an underwater photographic gallery with the theme: "in the shoes of the animals".
These amazing pics (because just the pics itself are a huge wow), have now the concept of seeing them while diving!.
I asked them about this great idea and they wrote to me back:
"Oceanotipo is a permanent underwater photographic gallery. Through art we try to trigger actions pointing to ecological awareness, sustainable tourism, and local identity. To achieve this goal we have decided to work in an original and unconventional idea: to create memorable experiences through a unique atmosphere under the water, this galery is located in Mahahual, Quintana Roo, México. The name of this project comes from a mixture of the words Ocean + Cyanotype = Oceanotipo (in spanish).
The title of our newest exposition is "Naked waters", created by the profesional photographer Rodrigo Del Rio,moved by the environmental reality, look forward to awake environmental and social awareness.
For this new expo have located 16 pictures (cyanotypes) that invites you to reflect our lives as human beings, putting yourselves "in the shoes of the animals", showing you the decadence that we have provocated in our world. What will happen when we have contaminated the last river and the last wind blow?.
If you want to enjoy this unique experience, you can contact: Zona de buceo (https://www.facebook.com/zonadebuceo?ref=ts&fref=ts) and if you want to keep in contact whit us, look for (https://www.facebook.com/oceanotipo?fref=ts) on Facebook. We are open to promote new artists, new proposals and let the world know about your art.
Cyanotype is a photographic printing process that produces a cyan-blue print. Engineers used the process well into the 20th century as a simple and low-cost process to produce copies of drawings, referred to as blueprints. The process uses two chemicals: ammonium iron(III) citrate and potassium ferricyanide."
If in the area, maybe take a quick drive or via cruise line, you can visit this great concept and admire such great pics. Heres some pics attached
Happy bubbles divers!
