Well I've done a search but to no avail and was wondering if anyone on scubaboard has any experience with the Oceanic Ocean Pro FX bc or any Oceanic product for that matter? I'm looking for a weight integrated bc, jacket style (sorry all you bp/w fans) and have taken a keen interest to this one. Gonna give Larry a call at scubatoys, but wanted some of yalls opinions first. Larry, if youre out there, tell me what you think, as yall just started carring this brand.

I have been using an Oceanic Flex for the past year (75 dives). I am very happy with it. It shows no signs of wear yet. I like the weight integrated system that it uses, as it is very easy to find the handles to ditch if needed. I like the Flex since it has no accessory packets, so the BC is more streamlined that others, such as the Probe. But that is, of course, a matter of personal preference.

I would not have brought in that BC if I didn't like it... I was kind of blown away. Now, I'm a back inflate diver, but not everyone is, and we were looking for a high quality jacket style we could sell at a good price. I had a long meeting with the guys from Oceanic, and they rolled out this FX BC. Heavy metal d rings, big zippered pockets, lots of padding including a big lumbar pad, very nice weight system... the newest rev of the quick release weight system, and the material is very rugged looking.

Now, I've got a lot of BC's back in our pool that we use for training... some Mares, Tusa, and Aeris. Turns out, the Mares faded blue, the tusa turned brown, and the Aeris still looks new... So I ask them, "what's the deal??" Turns out they use a special no-fade heavy denier cordura... and it really works... and the Oceanic FX is made of the same stuff.

Also has the rear weight trim pockets, and one thing I thought was really neat... the rear buttom dump... the one by your right kidney that is hard to find the pull?? That one?? They ran the line for it up front and put the pull ball by your right hip so you can dump your bottom dump without dislocating your arm looking for the rear pull... Real cool idea!

Then then have another pocket sitting on the side that is perfect for a big sausage tube, backup light, even small camera would fit in there.

So over all... We used to have some mares or sherwood or tusa bc's as the top jacket style bc's we carried... but I'd say that this Oceanic Ocean Pro FX is now the nicest jacket style bc we carry. At at below $300... It's a great value.

If I didn't think so... I would not have bought 600 of them... Yup..honest... 600. Kick on the web cam and you'll see a pile of big boxes in front of the wetsuits... We're kinda out of room... so buy a few would ya'! ;)

I don't like making comercial sounding posts normally... but since someone did come straight out and ask... I though I would... But in my opion - if you want a back inflate - I like the Zeagle, if I wanted a jacket style bc, I'd wear this Oceanic Ocean Pro FX.

I just bought an Oceanic Probe and I love it! The weight system is easy to use and the integrated airxs2 is out of the way and accessable. The rear weight pockets really do work for me, keeping a horizontal profile. The whole jacket is comfortable and even has the ability to go doubles and rings on the bottom for more tanks, beleive me the air bladder in this sucker has more than enough lift. But alas, those are just my opinions. Later!

I thought about the Oceanic line when I bought my BC last year. After looking at and trying a few on I went with the Zeagle line. One of the main reasons was the fact that Oceanic has huge pockets that I didn't need. If they are big enough to stash a camera they are way too big for me. All their BC's that I have seen have big pockets.
A DB of mine has a Oceanic BC and has had problems with it. It literally has been falling apart. First it was minor things, grommet cutting the retractor line, and now the seams are coming apart on him. He is far from rough on his gear. I hope this is a one time issue, just like cars can be.

I've been using an Oceanic Probe for almost 2 years and still really like it a lot. Very well made and comfortable. Oceanic really makes some good gear and my bet is that this new BC from Oceanic is another good product.

Thanks for all the opinions and info guys, especially Larry. Looking forward to finally owning my own gear, and yall have me convinced on this one.

Since you are in Round Rock, you can drive up... probably 3 hours, and check one out in our pool!

I didn't know anyone actually lived in Round Rock Texas... I thought people just turned there to get to Lake Travis! ;)
