Not with their wetsuits, but I dive one of their drysuits and love it. The quality and fit of the suit is fantastic.... for me.

The new Akona wetsuits were recently graded very high by Scuba Diving Magazine. One of my dive buddies wears a 7mm/7mm Akona wetsuit, and he stays very warm, even well below the thermocline.

Hello-
Does anyone have any experience/thoughts when it comes to Oceanic wetsuits?

I'm looking at the one below:

http://www.scubatoys.com/store/detail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=OceanicFarallon

It's between this one and an Akona 7mm.

Thanks!

They are going to be pretty close to each other, except that the Oceanic will have zippered ankles which makes it a lot easier to get in. Bhe time you kick in the SB discount, you're within a few bucks, and I like the blue over the all black. We carried the akona as well, in fact probably still have some kicking around, (pm with size and I'll see if I've got it) but I liked the Oceanic a bit better so we brought in a pile of those...

SB discount? I'm interested! When you say within a few bucks, can you give more details?

Well, the Akona sells for 150, when you take the Oceanic and take off 10% for being a scubaboard member, your at about 160. So is it worth the 10 bucks to get ankle zippers, reinforced shoulders, heavier knee pads, etc?? That's a call each buyer will have to make - but I know in the shop - when comparing the suits side by side - people take the Oceanic virtually every time - even with a little price difference.

I got a super cheap (approx USD60) 3mm full wetsuit at ADEX 2004 (around Mar/Apr). I have used it for more than 250 dives. It's looking a bit sad now and more closely resembles a 1mm skin suit, but considering the price, I don't think I have anything to complain about.
