Just received a Oceanic Versa Pro DC and have a few questions about it. I guess there were a few versions of it, this one has the yellow button on the side.

Do all Versa Pro's give a reminder for a 15ft safety stop when acending? I don't see any mention of it in the manual I downloaded from Oceanic. Also the Simulator mode doesn't seem to suggest it either.

In Pre-Dive Planning Mode the Depth vs. NDL times I'm seeing are a bit less than what Oceanic shows on the chart on page 42 of the manual. They show 60ft gives 57 minutes of NDL time but my Versa Pro shows 60ft gives 46 minutes. I'm currently at about 1300ft above sea level, could this account for the difference?

Also, I guess its normal not being able to enter log mode if no dives are recorded?

Thanks for any/all advice.

Hi Offroad,
I have 2 VPs-(long story), but only the "more recent" model has the 3 min Safety Stop countdown. I think the guys at ther LDS referred to this computer as the VP2, although I've seen no printed use of that term. (I'm not sure about button colors.)

I'm split between feeling that it is a "neat feature" and "PITA" regarding it.

Can't help with your other questions, as 1) both the manuals and the computers are not closeby, and 2) I never tried to access log mode until after I had made a dive.

Good luck,
Mike

We have two older VersaPros and neither has a safety stop reminder. I don't think I would use it as I monitor my ascent closely enough to know when I need to stop. Most folks do I hope. (!) I would guess that your being at 1300 feet will be taken into account by your computer and affect your answers accordingly. Call Oceanic's tech line to be sure. They are good people and the VersaPro is a good computer.

Dear Fellow:

The versa pro computer was recall between xxxx serial number and xxxx serial number, those model were upgrade with a new software that included the safety stop. Call the manufacturer if you have any apprehension.

Thanks for the responses, I did call Oceanic and they said because mine has a yellow side button its not included in the recall. Not sure if the software thats on mine is upgradeable to the latest version or not.

The Versa Pro model it’s no longer in productions and yours have the last software!

If you held the front button down and after the self check a N2 ( I believe don't quote me ) came on the sceen you needed to send it back in to get the upgrade to 2.0. Seems if you switched to gauge mode it was messing up.

Offroad the Versa Pro does adjust for altitude thats were the difference is coming in on the NDL's on your 60ft. examples.

The 250 I was told is the Versa Pro in a modular size to make it fit into all of Oceanic's consoles. An Oceanic Dealer told be this. But since I didn't read this myself I'm not swearing to it.
