Hi All
My Oceanic Veo 180NX has now something like 11 years.
It has been working without any issues all these years.
What I see now is that the display contrast is very very low and I can hardly see the numbers displayed at the surface.
The bat indicator shows full battery. That's ok, as I've changed the battery recently.
I could not find any indication in the user manual related to contrast adjustment.
Is this normal ?
Is there a way to adjust the constrast ?

Thanks.

I’ve contacted Oceanic tech support and they confirmed that a fading display indicates that it’s time to retire it. No possible further action.

As soon as I have bought a new PDC, I will further investigate if this can be solved.

Planned obsolescence ?
Hard to believe that a PDC that is hardly used has this problem.
How many hours has this PDC being used with the display on ? 200 days in all these years ? (considering that the display es on during no fly time).

Have you replaced the clear protective cover?

It's not the clear cover the origin of the problem.

With a tip of a friend I could open the PDC.
I've cleaned the contacts between the motherboard and the LCD display.
Reassembled an started it. The display is still poorly visible.
I guess I should replace some capacitor, but who knows which.
