I just bought one that I will hopefully receive in the next day or two. It's only traveling from PA to me so not far. It's a pretty capable computer from the specs I've read, and so far I like the Oceanic computer I have so having a second Oceanic I suspect will be good for me.

I'll update once I have a chance to look at it and compare.

EDIT: All the Oceanic dive computer manuals can be found on their website here: http://www.oceanicworldwide.com/services_manuals.html

this is the Veo 180 link: http://www.oceanicworldwide.com/pdf/12-2621-r03.pdf

Where did you purchase? Joe Diver seems to have a good price.

Thanks.

Right here on the scubaboard classifieds. Decent price that included the console with compass and spg and a couple other little freebies.

I almost never buy new equipment... at least the expensive stuff. I did buy a new backplate a new light, a couple new knives/shears and a new SMB (just got that yesterday) though.

We purchased one for my wife last fall. She liked the layout, menus and larger numbers in the display. These are basic dive computers however the battery compartment hatch design was changed awhile ago for the worst I think. Instead of the screw in type cover, Oceanic changed to a hatch cover and retainer ring.
The tool they give you works better than using something like a screwdriver to take of the retainer ring. Best to travel with the tool.
We have had 3 covers crack over the years in several different Oceanic computers of this style with one battery compartment flood (wife's computer). We were able to clean out the battery compartment sufficiently to get it to work but needed a replacement cover. She is using a large old style Oceanic rubber boot so it's well protected.

We generally take care to not bang around the equipment and I never had this issue with the old style (screw in covers) in any other computer I have had (including Oceanic).

I don't know why Oceanic went with this design but in my opinion, it is not as good as the old screw in cover. It does work though. Before diving you might want to glance at the cover and check.

I now have spare covers in addition to spare batteries in my save a dive kit.

10/10 for mine, 180nx, i love it, does everything i need as a fairly new diver, 65 dives, couldn't ask for more at this stage, great for nitrox

I have one that I have used for 2 years till I had to change the pattery didn't get a good seal and it flooded . 1st dive of the day. A fellow diver loand me one of his extras so I could dive that day . The cover is the only weak link I don't like other than that it is a real good computer for the money. I have purchased a new tusa IQ750 as my main computer and keep the 180 as my back up . just beware of the cover

Its a good little computer, but it has been discontinued for a year or so and they are only selling "left overs". FYI

I have an Oceanic Veo 180. I had it mounted on a console but since I'm tech diving, I'm switched to a wrist mount. It is Nitrox programmable but only for one gas. You also need an expensive cable to download your dives. I had a problem downloading my dives because the disk that came with it was outdated. I had to go to the Oceanic site to download the correct software and to download it to the oceanic folder. It won't work if you download it to your download folder.

When I need the battery replaced, I usually have my LDS do it. They pressure test it after changing the battery.

It's a good recreational computer. I now use it as my back up computer. I did find that you can push the button to get additional data on the face of the computer while underwater.

My wife and I got one each about 18 months ago, so far so good. It is easy to read and use. One thing we have found is that they don't seen to keep time very well. After a couple of months, we have found they can be up to 15 or 20 minutes fast. It's not a big deal to reset the time though.

The cost of the pc download cable is a joke.

It is the only computer I have ever owned, so I don't have a lot to compare it to, but I would recommend them as a basic computer that is very easy to use.
