Oceanic Delta 4 w/ FDX10 - I plan on purchasing this reg soon. It's being offered at 2 different locations with 2 different features. One is without the swivel hose and no DVT. The other is with the swivel hose and DVT. From my understanding, the swivel hose was removed from this reg on Oceanics newer line up. DVT would be nice but I can live without it.

So, does anyone have experience with this reg with or without the swivel hose? To me, it seems like a moving part that can potentially fail. However, Oceanic removed the swivel from the Delta 4 and put it on their EOS flagship instead. So, given both Delta 4 regs at both distributors are at a similar pricepoint - to swivel or not to swivel is my question.....

jsado,

I have a Delta 4 with swivel. Another failure point? Possibly. I have not seen one come in the shop having this as an issue. IMHO, the swivel makes the reg more comfortable; less hose tug.
Mine is DIN so there is no DVT. Never had one, so I don't miss it (or maybe I don't know what I am missing....)
I have seen some with DVT that make a kind of whistling noise on inhale, due to the airflow around the DVT and it moving inside the first stage. Tore them down- no issues, just occasionally a bit noisy.

Hope this helps.

I won a Delta 4/FDX10 reg (swivel and DVT) at one of our dive club functions, it is a great reg - it is the only reg we own with a swivel, it is more comfortable when you move your head form side to side.......

I converted it to DIN so the DVT went away.......

I guess if it was me, I would take the swivel and DVT......

I checked the Oceanic website, it looks like the current version has the DVT but no swivel......so how did one store end up with a "new" unit without DVT or swivel?

Hope this helps......M

They are both great features. The dvt is a great backup against getting water or debry in your 1st stage. The primary of course is always replacing the dust cover.

As for the swivel, it has a very nice design unlike the other swivels that do have failure issues. To my knowledge, the Oceanic Swivel has not caused a serious failure. If you plan on seriously getting into technical diving, then it might become an issue. However, for recreational diving, it is a great feature that makes it more comfortable. I have personally been using one for over two years now and really like it.

I have a Delta 4 and love it. IMO, the swivel makes a huge difference in terms of comfort. The reg doesnt pull on your mouth when you turn your head.
I'd recommend the swivel.

I didnt know they made the fdx-10 first stage in yoke without the DVT, but DVT is a nice feature - not essential if you are careful with your gear but can be nice to have.

If they are the same price, I'd highly recommend the swivel/dvt model.
