Are the algorithms for Aeris and Oceanic the same or at least pretty close. I have a Oceanic Wrist computer that I would use as a backup and The aeris is a console style XR-1 that I would use as the primary.

They're made by the same company. The owner's manuals are often identical except for the name on the front.

it depends on the models ...

The new Oceanic models have the dual algorithm feature ... so, as an example, if you use the Veo 2.0 in PZ+ and compare it to the XR-1, they will behave differently.

I dive an Oceanec 2.0 and my son dives an Aeris XR-1NX. We have noticed that the Aeris is quite a bit more conservative with multiple air dives. After a deep dive, the Oceanic will allow more bottom time on the following dive than the Aeris.

I own an aeris and will tell you its very liberal. Gives a lot more bottom time than pretty much any other computer.

It also has a setting called "conservative mode" if you are want to be safer.

Oceanic and Aeris are made by the same company and have been noted to use same algorithms but it makes sense that the newer versions are using dual algorithms.

We have gone through the settings several times with the same results. We dive together and always see significantly different bottom time allowances. On our last dive (second of the day), we compared them on reaching 65' and mine allowed 16 minutes while his allowed 9 minutes.

We plan on trying a couple of square profiles to test them against the tables and then I am going to try to find a conservative setting on my Oceanic 2.0 that will make them agree better. We always use the most conservative anyway.
