New
Hi All,
I am a new diver just having completed my OW cert the previous weekend here in Denver Colorado.
Wanted to say hi and introduce myself as well as thank you all in advance for all the great info I have been digging up on boards.
As a very new diver I think I fall into the category of knowing just enough to be really dangerous :/ The more I read and search and talk to local divers at the shops here the more I realize my training although good really only touched on a few key concepts and skills and that I have lots to learn to really become a safe and sane OW diver
I have my first trip coming up in Nov (Punta Cana in the DR) and have been looking into professional / safe OPs down there and also at some shallow reef locations for my first few dives. Also hooked up with a local shop here in town and signed up for some additional pool sessions before heading down. I did fine with all the skills but in reading a lot of threads here I am discovering that there were skill activities that my course didnt have us do that I think would be best practiced in the pool plus I really want to fine tune my buoyancy control - its not bad but could always be better
Anyway thats a bit about me - any good advice from the seasoned vets around here is always welcome and I'm excited to actually do some diving in the open ocean!
