We'll be on Oahu in January and are planning on getting a couple of shore dives in while we're there.

A friend who lives there suggested Electric Beach. My g/f is a fairly new diver so he recommended that as a good spot for her.

Our hotel is in Waikiki. Are there any good shops between there and Electric Beach to rent gear?

You can pick up gear at Honolulu Scuba Company 670 Auahi Street Honolulu HI 96817.

I like to use surfnewsnetwork.com to check the surf forecast, for Electric beach (good dive) look at the swell report for the west side. Anything bigger than 3' is iffy. and 3' is no joke. You are going to need to pay attention as winter swell closes out the west side pretty often. South shore shore diving might be a bit easier, but most of them are longer swims to the site. Point Panic is popular amongst the locals. Decent nearby parking.

Thanks very much for the info!
